NFT helps the environment?

SMALL

Hello! It's been a while since I said hello. I've been very sick with COVID-19 for a while.

I'm staying at home these days because I heard that I could get COVID-19 again.

The aftereffects were bigger than I thought.

The aftereffects are that I wake up around 3-5 in the morning for a while.

When I wake up, it takes about 20-30 minutes to fall asleep.

Yesterday, I didn't wake up for the first time in a while and slept well, so my condition got better!

The blog has also recovered from COVID-19 and recovered to daily life,

so I am planning to upload an article about NFT about once a week.

(There may have been no people waiting 🥲) But I'm sorry that I couldn't post the notice in advance.

Today, we're going to talk about NFT again!

TentuPlay (Sentience), which I belong to now, is also very interested in the environment.

We're now developing a game about the environment.

Anyway, many people are saying that NFT is not eco-friendly because it uses a lot of carbon.

I think it's hard to say for sure about this.

This is because the project was carried out in consideration of the 'environment',

but there are many cases that cause environmental pollution more than I thought.

For example, was it around September last year?

There was an event where you can order drinks from Starbucks and put them in a reusable cup.

It was very popular, and it spurred more purchases.

There was a strong criticism that the event was "greenwashing."

I was saying that they were marketing companies that were not really helpful to the environment,

but exaggerated or deceived by eco-friendly.

Starbucks is a company that pursues ESG management and makes paper straws and reusable cups.

It is true that using a tumbler rather than a disposable cup helps the environment.

However, there is a result that it needs to be reused more than 220 times based on a stainless steel tumbler to help the environment rather than using a disposable cup.

Rather than reusing it for the environment,

I wonder if it is using the power of the brand Starbucks to induce the purchase of goods.

On the contrary, the COVID-19 epidemic has caused many people to suffer, but it has also helped the "environment."

Coronavirus (CoV) is a virus that can be infected by humans

and various animals and is an RNA virus with a gene size of 27 to 32 kb.

The main route of transmission is transmitted by respiratory droplets (spills) of the infected person.

Many people died due to COVID-19, and many people lost their livelihoods.

There are many people who suffer psychological problems such as depression or have physical disabilities.

But ironically, as industries, transportation networks, and businesses stopped, carbon emissions plummeted.

Not only carbon dioxide but also various air pollutants have dropped sharply.

The reduction in air pollutant emissions due to

the COVID-19 blockade has greatly contributed to improving air quality around the world in 2020.

Nevertheless, the impact of the global blockade on the climate in 2020 is very small.

However, studies have shown that it has had a significant impact on regional weather changes.

I brought an example because I think some of you might be wondering

if there is an NFT that is actually helpful to the environment.

There is published by the World Wide Fund for Nature under the theme of 13 endangered animals.

Proceeds from the NFT are said to be used for endangered animal conservation and habitat protection.

The polygon-based NFT was produced, and the token was $200,

and 40% of the sales revenue was passed to the animal's habitat manager.

In response, Dr. Catherine Flick of the University of DeMontport, England, is still saying, "We need to stop NFTs that will have a devastating impact on the environment."

WWF says the polygon blockchain emits about one cup of tap water for a single NFT transaction.

And this is a very personal idea,

but I think that these attempts can lead to people thinking about the environment and creating a butterfly effect.

That's all for today's information.

I didn't upload my blog for 2-3 weeks and thought about the NFT that I'm going to mint during my break.

In the previous posting, I told you that I wanted to eventually work on NFT-related projects.

Before the project, I'd like to do the minting first. :)

I think the theme is environment, space, people, and depression.

We're going to start minting around June, so please look forward to it! See you at the next posting!
